Origin and Habitat: Parodia linkiiSN|1449]]SN|1449]] is present in Argentina (Corrientes and Misiones), Brazil (Rio Grande do Sul, Parana, and Santa Catarina), Uruguay (Rivera and Tacuarembó) and Paraguay (Itapúa and Paraguarí).
Altitude range: 20 to 1,500 metres above sea level.
Habitat and Ecology: P. linkii grows on rocky outcrops, in grasslands or pampas and in forests. It has a very wide range, is locally abundant, and is present in many protected areas. However, in parts of its range, particularly in Brazil, the species is exposed to several threats that are severely affecting the subpopulations. The major threats for P. linkii are grazing, agriculture, forestry, urbanization and dam construction. Also, local collection might turn into a threat.

Description: Parodia linkii is cryptic species strictly allied to Parodia ottinis that is very variable and has numerous synonyms for its various regional forms.
Stems: Up to 15 cm in diameter.
Ribs: Mostly 10-15, occasionally more.
Areoles: Shallowly notches between tubercles.
Flowers: Several produced together, yellow, about 2.5-4 cm in diameter, stigmas yellow or pale red.
